Mourvèdre

Red grape variety of Spanish origin, also cultivated in the Provence

Late in its development, needing a lot of sunshine to ripen, the Mourvèdre creates long aging wines, full of colour and tannins, rich and spicy, sometimes course. It is rarely vinified single and mingles well with the Grenache. Main grape of the AOC Bandol, in red, it covers the whole coastal region of the Mediterranean, until the Chateauneuf du Pape. It is largely cultivated in Spain, mainly in the regions of Murcia, Valencia and Alicante.
