Chardonnay

White grape, probably originating from Burgundy

Part of the greatest dry wines in France (Montrachet, Corton-Charlemagne, Chablis, amongst others), the Chardonnay is also present in the Champagne, accounting for one third of the plantations, and in the Jura. Its use is extending to other regions throughout in France. The Chardonnay has also become a very popular variety on the American continent, in Australia and in South Africa, as it has all i takes for pleasing : its culture is easy and possible at all places, its yield ist comfortable and the wines always fine. Furthermore it mingles very well with the barrel and has great capacities for aging. It has certainly not unrightfully been titled as the "King of the white wines".
